So I failed to journal yesterday. My b.

I go up at the crack of dawn yesterday and trained from Naples to Rome. They never checked my ticket - it was weird. I then went to the Vatican (which was cool, but not worth the wait - there are plenty of churches that are just as cool). After that, I wandered past castles and down the river in town to the Modern Art Museum - which was great, but not as good as the one in Naples (it did have a Klimt, Monet, Van Gogh, Rodin, and others, but the contemporary area was not very emotionally appealing). Naples modern art is more my taste.

After some modern art, I wandered through the villa de bolongese, a park on which Villa de Medici sits. It was nice, even with a couple rain showers - and a climb to the top of villa Medici made it all worth it.

Today was a day of churches. I buddied up with a fellow hostel goer, and we toured many of the churches around Rome. They are all amazing. We started with the famous fountain (which provided a lovely sound) then went to the Pantheon (which, IMHO, had the best energy). And then just wandered around into and out of innumerable exquisite edifices of God. (Which, if I were to provide a guess, "God" would not appreciate the turn toward the worship of symbols and buildings over providing for the masses, but, I digress). We found the circus and after we split up, I wound up touring the ancient Baths (101AD), now a park.

I was surprised how much I like Rome. It surprises me in the way that my slow love for Manhattan surprised me. I imagine that I will wind up back here.
